Madeleine Mainstone Trust Study Travel Scholarship 2009-2010

Applications for this scholarship are invited from museum staff in the European union or persons engaged in a post-graduate course in museum studies within the union with the intention of taking up employment in a museum.

Applicants must be a citizen and currently resident in countries of the European Union. They either must have worked in a museum or museums for no less than a total of two years and a maximum of five years at the date of their application, or successfully completed a post-graduate course in museums studies not later than the time of taking up the award.

The 2009-2010 Scholarship, which consists of a grant of £1000 towards travel and expenses, should be used to pursue a specific project in museums in the Netherlands or the UK. The specified project should involve the study of education services and their impact on the collections of the museum visited. An article of not more than 3000 words reporting on the project and suitable for publication in an educational journal will be expected from the successful candidate.

The successful candidate must complete the project in the period of August 1 2009-June 1 2010. The article must be submitted within six months of return from the study visit. The closing date for applications is Friday 27 March 2009.
