Award

Dear Members,

last September the CECA Board met in Zagreb during the annual conference and took many important decisions. In particular, as the presentation of the Best Practice document was considered very interesting by members present at the conference as well as members connected through the live streaming, the Board considered how it is possible to spread its use. There are many reasons for doing so. In particular the Board would like to:

  • build a common language among CECA members all around the world, so that it will be easier to exchange experiences; launch a large and international bottom-up discussion about the document, so that we can improve it;
  • make programmes implemented in different parts of the world more easily comparable, so that CECA members can imply ideas from elsewhere in their own work; discuss during the annual conference programmes designed and implemented according to the common model of the Best Practice document;
  • spread programmes presented by members among the museum community both inside and outside CECA, so that they serve as sources of inspiration for others.

It is a great pleasure for me to inform you that the Board decided to create an award as a tool that will help CECA reach the above objectives. The top five programmes will be awarded according to the table below. The winners of the award will have the opportunity of participating in the Yerevan conference having the conference fees and the accommodation covered by CECA (note that travel expenses are not included).

The award is exclusively addressed to CECA members (except Board members) and I believe it can be considered as an added value to the participation in the Committee.

In order to participate, members must fill the application form following the guidelines. A special evaluation group, made of distinguished professionals in the field of museum education and cultural action, will be established in order to read the programmes sent by members and score them. The following table shows all the deadlines.

This is the first time that CECA (or any other ICOM international committee) launches this kind of initiative. It is difficult to foresee your reaction. As the other Board members, I deeply feel the responsibility that is involved in our proposal. However I hope that many of you will react and that lots of programmes will arrive within the deadline.

Let me now thank you all for your attention. If you have any remarks or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

All the best and good luck for the award!

Emma Nardi
