Best Practice Award: Update

Dear Members,

I have the pleasure to inform you that we received 27 Best Practice projects for CECA award:
26 were eligible and one was discarded because the author is not a CECA member.

The jury of ICOM - Ceca award is composed of four members:

  • Emma Nardi, CECA president, chair;
  • Marie-Clarté O’Neill, CECA board member and co-author of the Best Practice document;
  • Milena Chiovatto, CECA member;
  • Hugues Dreyssé, president of ICOM – Umac (University Museums and Collections).

The work of the jury will be developed in three phases.

The 5 projects randomly selected will be evaluated by the four members using the evaluation
grid independently. The forms will be then compared by the chair and, should major
discrepancies be found, discussed together in order to find a common working style.

All the other projects will be distributed among the four members who will express a written
evaluation, according to the form.

A meeting will be organised in Rome (May 17th afternoon and May 18th morning) to allow the
evaluation group to come to a final decision. A ranking of all projects will be produced and
a threshold empirically identified. All the projects above the threshold will be considered as
“CECA Best Practice Certified Project”. Quotas will be established in proportion of the number
of projects sent by each continent. The top five will be awarded according to those quotas.

May 18th, 2012, which is also the International Museum Day, we are going to release the
names of the authors of the winning and certified projects.

We are also planning to publish the projects in order to give all members the opportunity to
read them and to spread the Best Practice model internationally.

Best regards

Emma Nardi

(ICOM - CECA President)
