PRESS RELEASE
CECA Experience Exchange
ICOM-CECA introduces a new tool for enhancing the exchange of experience amongst CECA members
CECA, the international Committee for Education and Cultural Action, recently launched a new website, offering new opportunities to the CECA membership. See: http://ceca.icom.museum/.
One of the novelties is a database of CECA members who are willing to share theirexperience and skills with other CECA members. Last year, all members received a call to fill in a form, to describe their special skills and interests. This information has now been transferred into a searchable database, which is available to members when they log in to the website. Every new CECA-member will also be invited to fill in his/her professional profile and share it with colleagues all over the world.
By using the filters in the Experience Exchange database, CECA members can find and consult someone who is an expert in the field they are just exploring. Or they can share experiences with colleagues working in similar museums, present their own expertise, etc.
By introducing this tool, CECA is able to offer more benefits to its members - also to those who cannot afford to travel to annual conferences all over the world. To the CECA Board, the Experience Exchange tool is a part of the so called ‘professional development policy’, to offer better opportunities to learn from each other.
